"Please explain Piglet to me"

To understand why this website was called Piglet you will have to cast your mind back to a more innocent time. A time so long ago, and so innocent, that the Internet was fresh and sweet smelling, and you could tramp around in it like a small child romps through a dew covered field without the risk that you might stomp your foot in a steaming cow pat.

The Internet was innocent, and so was I. In what might have turned out to be a great folly (but didn't), I published my website so that I could learn the art of making websites. Piglet was the name I used in IRC chat, so essentially, it was my name. So it was the name I gave my website. Piglet.

One of the facts that I always championed on Piglet was that it was utterly pointless, and I am proud to say that this original founding principle has remained in force right to today.

Okay, I understand the Piglet thing, what is the ethick thing?

Of course, even though they were early days, I was much too late to bag piglet.com so after literally minutes of frustrated searching I decided on ethick.com. One of the lessons I have learned since then (in those original halcyon days between 1997 and 1999) is that actually there is no shortage of good domain names, you just need the dedication to find them, or catch them on the drop. I'm not saying ethick.com is actually a bad domain name, it's more a case of "could do better".

Time marched on. I built a huge number of websites, and Piglet, or ethick.com started to lose my full attention. In fact you might say it stagnated.

But recently I started to realise, maybe this is an important website after all, and it deserves to have some attention lavished upon it. A bit like discovering that the reason you can't get into your garage is because you have a vintage Mercedes hidden in there, and with a bit of care and attention it might be brought back to life and bring pleasure.

This isn't the Piglet that I'm referring to:

I'm not talking about Piglet the fictional character from A. A. Milne's series of books about Winnie-the-Pooh. That Piglet is a small animal who is a good friend of Winnie-the-Pooh. Piglet is Pooh's best friend (aside of course from Christopher Robin). He has permanent fear of the dark and is timid about most things. Despite the fact that he is a Very Small Animal, he often overcomes his fears. In the original colour versions of the Winnie-the-Pooh books Piglet has white skin and a green jumper rather than the pink skin and pink jumper that he has acquired from Disney. Piglet spells his name "Piglit".
